Frederick came to Port Kembla with his family to work at E.R & S company, he worked the copper smelter & was "furnace boss", he was always ill from my memory (c,1950), most likely from the inhaled fumes from the furnaces. Fred & Charlotte & family lived at 40 Darcy Road in Port Kembla (a E,R&S company house) till he died in 1957.
The Electrolitic Refining & Smelting Co. of Australia established in Port Kembla 1907. Initially the refinery was used to treat 'Blister copper', brought from Mount Morgan & Mount Lyall, the first batch produced on 11th February 1909. The company specialised in treating gold, silver & copper ores from around Australia, in September 1990 the company was sold to CRA & became known as Southern Copper limited.


Frederick married Charlotte Denley, daughter of Charles Denley and Elizabeth Lewis, on 12 Sep 1899 in Christ Church C of E, Queanbeyan, NSW Australia. (Charlotte Denley was born on 4 Aug 1879 in Googongs Homestead, NSW Australia and died on 14 Feb 1973 in Wollongong, NSW Australia.)
