(Vehicle Accident - inquest held)

Argus (Melbourne, Vic) Saturday 21 October 1916
NEWSAGENT KILLED.
By the overturning of a vehicle which he was driving early yesterday morning, Mr. William Henry Hiscock, a well-known newsagent of Brighton, was thrown on to the roadway and killed. At about 10 minutes to 7, Mr. J. H. Field, who lives at the corner of Moffatt street and Wolseley grove, Brighton Beach, saw from the front of his premises a man lying in the centre of the road at the intersection. A few yards away lay on overturned buggy. Mr. Field found that the victim of the accident was Mr. Hiscock. It was the practice of the deceased to deliver the morning papers by vehicle. Dr. McLelland was summoned but he could only pronounce life extinct. Mr. Hiscock's body was taken to the Morgue by Constable Druce. Mr. Hiscock was 53 years of age, and leaves a widow and family of six. He had been in business at Brighton for 10 or 12 years, and prior to going to Brighton was a resident of Kew for 30 years. He was formerly a leading member of the Kew Cricket Club.
