Louisa Palmer Payne

   Another name for Louisa was Paine In 1851 Census Lucy.

  General Notes:

Appears to have remained in England when her parents and siblings sailed f or Sydney. Have been unable to find records of her either in Engla nd or in Australia. However, this does not mean that she didn't come to A ustralia as "Louise" may have been a 2nd, 3rd or even nickname and any reg istrations might be in her actual name.

In late January 2006, Mrs. Pat Hase, Research Consultant of the Weston Sup er Mare family history society advised that Louisa was born to Mary Ann Pa lmer, Single Woman of Winscome.

It appears that Charles Payne, who later married Mary Ann Palmer, accept ed Louisa as his daughter. Charles was certainly not living with Mary A nn during the 1841 census but boarding with the family he worked for. Per haps he is her natural father, perhaps not. Either way it does not real ly matter.
