  General Notes:

On arriving in Australia he cleared land and farmed at Toolijooa, near
Gerringong on the south coast, and commenced a dairy farm in 1854. He
then farmed at Albion Park and later settled on the Richmond River,
near Bangalow, NSW. His obituary gives him as one of the first South
Coast pioneers. Did dairying and then worked at Pitsawing, took his
butter to Kiama on his pack horse. Voted at every election since
coming to Australia.

James married Rebecca Wells, daughter of George Wells and Harriet Vidler, on 17 Dec 1859 in Gerringong, NSW Australia.
