George Conwell

George was baptised at Chorley in the Parish of Leyland on the 30th November 1821and married Mary
Loudon/Lordon on the 4^th February, 1851 at St Luke's Church, Charlton.
George was a Gunner in the Royal Artillery, and at that time his father Richard was also a soldier.
Mary's father was William Lordon, a farmer. The bride and groom and both witnesses were unable
to write their names.

They can be found in the 1851 census in the Parish of Woolwich, Borough of Greenwich and town
of Woolwich. He is 28 yrs old in the Royal Artillery and was born at (or came from) Preston,
Lancashire.
She was 21 yrs old and born in Ireland. On the birth certificate her son Benjamin it said she was from Cork,
Ireland.

The family (George, Mary and their 3 children Richard, Thomas and George) came to Australia in June
1854 on the Nimrod on the 6^th May (Reel No/ 2467/4939).
