Edwin Herbert married Emma Pitt and emigrated to Mexico about 1901 where he lived Mexico City working as a "Commision Agent", this occupation is always stated on any immigration records over the years although his grand daughter Mary (who has connected) with me has said his occupation on his son's birth certificate was that of Corn merchant so it may well be that he followed in his father's footsteps after all!
They had at least four children Olive being the eldest but information about her is scarce. It is possible she died before they emigrated to Mexico or she may have been left behind with relatives.
Their eldest son Herbert Edwin (often just referred to as Edwin)later moved to USA where he worked for an oil refinery as an accountant in Charleston, later becoming a naturalised US citizen and marrying Helen Gladys from Oswego South Carolina, they had two daughters called Enid Helen and Zelma Gladys.
Helen Sasia goes on to note:
Emma seems to have travelled around a lot as she is often to be found crossing the border between Mexico and the US. In 1922 she is once again travelling across the border and on her immigration card it states she has lived in Mexico for 20 years making her arrival there about 1902.
Edwin Herbert was known to be an avid gardener and after he retired he was apparently responsible for the British Garden in Mexico.
