• fact. Thomas was the eldest child of Michael & Mary & was born in 1841 not long after his parents arrived in Australia, His father arriving on ship ALQUIS on 16th March 1839 with parents, brothers & sisters & his mother arriving on ship ADAM LODGE on 14th February 1840 with parents, brothers & sisters. Thomas didn't marry till he was 37 yrs old, & after marriage they bought a property at BROWNS CREEK & called the property "LYNDALE". They cleared the land side by side & as Thomas was a gun shearer, he spent a lot of time away shearing. Thomas's parents came to live on the property & a hut was built for them, However after his mother's death a lean to was attached to the house so his father would be close by them. Thomas couldn't read nor write but was able to sign his name. Original House was log cabin built about 1879, had an earthern floor with split logs on outside & inside lined with brown paper, this was one large room & had a very big fireplace, one able to take a big log. The new house was built about 1914 & had 4 bedrooms, lounge room with a verandah right around the house, it had no bathroom & water was heated on log fire & carried to side verandah where they bathed in a tin tub. The old cabin became the kitchen. The family usually slept on the verandah summer & winter. Thomas died in 1929 & the day of his funeral the Hearse became bogged, so his favourite draft horse - TOBY - was called upon to drag the hearse free, the horse was then released to return to his paddock, but when family returned home it was to find "TOBY" had died at the homestead gates. In the book " meeting the challenge " by Frank Barr, there is a paragraph under Browns Creek which reads " in 1902 a man named Moloney laid charges against Blackler (school teacher) but most people supported him through a petition - end of quote - . This is about Thomas Moloney who threatened the school teacher after the teacher caned his daughter Emiline Mary (Polly) so badly on the knuckles, that she could never wear a ring on these fingers, unless it was specially made for her, with a hinge to allow her to get it over her badly bent fingers. THOMAS MOLONEY CAUSE OF DEATH "CHRONIC INTESTINAL MYOCARDITIS"
