Ken Gray notes: Troilus Gray [the younger] was educated at several state schools, Melbourne High School and Melbourne Technical College [RMIT]. Had employment with a radio manufacturing firm and in 1928 went to Wedderburn in charge of the Municipal Electricity Plant.
In 1948 he resigned as manager of the power station and electrical supply and moved to Stawell. He owned and ran a soft drink factory. [Gray's Aerated Waters.] Troy was elected Mayor of the Borough of Stawell in 1952. In 1953 Troy and his family relocated to North Balwyn, a Melbourne suburb where he and his wife, Esmé ran a gift shop and electrical contracting business.
