General Notes:
Ken Gray notes: Troilus Gray , educated in state schools, entered service of the Government as Telegraphist in 1887; was for many years an expert telegraphist in the office at the Capital City [Melbourne] being engaged principally on fast circuits between there and the neighbouring capital cities Sydney [N.S.W.] and Adelaide, [S.A]; later was postmaster at Wedderburn and then Dimboola; later, for family reasons, removed to Geelong [a city of 33,000 inhabitants in 1913.]Being second in command he was given full control for several months on the occasion of the accidental death of the postmaster. The length of time he was allowed to remain in command before the appointment of a new postmaster, and the general satisfaction given the public by his conduct of affairs speaks eloquently of his skill and courtesy.. Not of robust health.
