• source. Pat Spence who writes:
Ellen or Nell Butler was my grandfather's older sister and went to Magnetic Island in 1876 with her parents and siblings. Her name is remembered at Nelly Bay on the Island which was named after her by the surveyor of the land and bays. Her husband Will Fraser was a stone mason and son of a Scottish family who worked on the Magnetic Island granite for Townsville's public buildings such as the Custom's House on the Strand. Will and Nell's marriage was the first to be celebrated on the island.
Both Nell and her husband Will Fraser are buried at the Townsville Cemetery at Belgian Gardens. Section C1-18.

& Jane_Kemp@stellamaris.nsw.edu.au who writes:

Nelly Fraser nee Butler was the youngest daughter of Henry aka Harry Butler. Henry and his family were the first Europeans who settled on Magnetic Island. She mangered and cooked for the guest house she started with husband William Fraser.

It is said that she cooked and provided home cooked meals even for Adoringals. This was unheard of at the time and as a result Nelly was very well expected and as a result they named a Bay after her "Nelly's Bay". Not only that they also have a Museum found in a restored cottage that William would have built of the History of this family. For the opening of this Museum they made a cookbook of Nelly's recipes she cooked at the Guest House called "Nelly's Recipes" which is found in the Queensland State Library.
