I have very little information about my fathers side of the family
all I know is that my father was Leslie Charles Preston - born 17//1917 my grandfather was George Ernest Preston married to Frances E Skaines married 1910
I have the Military forces records from Archives for Charles Francis Warby 2436, they state that his mother was Mary E Preston and his father was George Preston C/- PO Inverell signed 2/9/1915 at Inverell where he enlisted.
The brother-in-law is Jas A Hope of 16 Fitzroy St Balmain
I can ascertain that Charles was 35 and 3 months when he enlisted in the 4th Reins 31 infantry battalion.
Charles was reported killed in action in France 21/7/1916, and registered in Villies Bretonneau Memorial M>R>26. partVI.s-z
Mary Eleanor Preston was granted a claim of 2 pound p.f. granted from 21/10/1916
A claim for 1 pound was claimed in the name of Hannah Pretoria Preston of Inverell being a step sister, this was granted from 26/10/1916. also a claim was made by Ethel Maud Preston being a niece, this was rejected as not a dependant
Mary Eleanor Preston being Charles mother was living at 33 Euroka St North Sydney 13/5/1922. She received a British War Medal and 1 Victory Medal
