• fact. John GLASSON and Hannah Truscotte HAWKE were married by Rev J Waterhouse in Fairfield 7 miles from Bookanon. Death Certifciate No. 1889/28 Occupation given as farmer. Died of Pneumonia and pleurisy- chronic disease of lung and giddnal? atrophy 14 months. Medical attendant AG Purchase. Born in Bathurst, NSW. Lived in NZ 15 years. Married in NSW to Hannah Truscoot Hawke and left 5 children: 3 males age 7,12,17 and 2 females age 10 and 19. His daughter Olive Phillips has written an account of " John Glasson IV of Bookanon" who was his father. This John would properly be called John Glasson V although he did return to "Bookanon" to live for a period. John V farmed in the Waikato but took over the property near "Linwood", that was originally owned by John IV brother, William and was first called "Kempfield". The account says that John V died at "Kempfield" but was buried at on the "Linwood" property with one of his sons although the death certificate says he is buried in Karaka cemetery. Hannah returned to New South Wales, Australia and the farm became the property of A.V. Urquhart and is now [1990's] owned by one of his grandsons.

John married Hannah Truscotte Hawke on 23 Jun 1869 in Bookanon New Zealand. (Hannah Truscotte Hawke was born on 20 Jan 1845 in Cornwall England.)
