• Emigration. 1862 on the Annie Wilson with 2 of their eventual 8 children and Thomas' brother John who was not married

• Occupation. coal miner - he was an Ostler (stable hand) and looked after the pit ponies at the C Pit at Wallsend on the Newcastle Rd where the BBC Hardware store is located (in 1998). Also a Thomas Firkin is recored as holding the Liquor Licence for the New Ballarat Hotel at Wallsend in 1884 and 1885. This hotel, on St Luke's Squre was opened in 1877 by one H Tildesley.

• Residence. Thomas is recorded as living at Irving St Wallsend in 1893 according to his brother George's death certificate and also in 1900.

• Medical. died of Syncope and Coma, heart degeneration,12 months
