James Black

  Noted events in his life were:

• fact. The Black's lived in a simple farm house at West Linnbank Farm in Strathaven, Scotland, where six children were born to them. Both mother and father died after only 14 years of marriage just a few months apart, leaving the children orphaned and in the care of other family members. Four emigrated to Ohio, one to Canada, and one remained in Scotland. They were reported to be the handsomest couple for miles around
