PAYNE George (George, Charles, George, Joel) was born in 1873. George to ok over the family business carrying on the stores Grandfather had starte d, the General Store, Bakery, Butchery, Dressmaking and Millinery in Alexa ndra, Victoria, Australia. He was so successful he decided to take a tr ip to England leaving a man named Whitworth as manager. On his return fr om overseas he found the business just about bankrupt. The shock being ju st so dreadful he had a mental collapse. George married Lydia West in 189 9, and then GARROD Christina (Sissy) in 1911, who was a good mother to h is 5 children. Lydia died on the 21 Jul 1910. George died in 1931 in Melb ourne East, Victoria.
