William James Petersen 240

  • Born: 2 Sep 1891, Wanganella, near Deniliquin, NSW Australia 240
  • Died: 13 Jun 1968, St Kilda, Melbourne, Victoria Australia at age 76

Noted events in his life were:

• note. War service with AIF in WWI & WW2, after discharge from service (WW1) given a land grant in Strzelecki Ranges off Ridge Rd, Mirboo North, in Gippsland Victoria. The blocks were set aside on Crown land for returned servicemen and were on heavily timbered sloping blocks which had to be cleared. The blocks proved to be extremely unsuitable for agricultural purposes and in a few short years all the servicemen had walked off the blocks. Today little remains of any sign of settlement and the natural forest has taken hold once again.
