James Newton Grindrod

  Noted events in his life were:

• emigrated: on board the Eagle out of Liverpool England, 13 Jan 1854, Australia. ²⁴⁰ listed on passenger list as a labourer 18 years old travelling alone.

• note. ²⁴⁰ The Grindrods seem to have moved steadily northward following work on sheep stations or the flourishing meat & wool trade, some other related? Grindrod's were already established in or around Hay at this time also.

* according to Flo White, one of Mary Ann's brothers married a half caste girl & was disinherited by his family

James married Bridget Grealish on 26 Apr 1859 in Belfast, Port Fairy, Victoria Australia.²⁴⁰ (Bridget Grealish was born in 1836 in Galway, County Galway, Ireland UK and died in 1908 in Hotham, Victoria Australia ²³⁹.)
