OBITUARY
Published in the "Bulletin", Madison, Maine.
Stickney Gray, the youngest son of Thomas and Sarah Cragin Gray, was born in NORTH Anson, 5th Oct. 1837, and died in North Anson, 16th Jan. 1917. He married Ellen L. Caswell 2nd June 1862. Of the six children born to them, Waldo died in 1870. Addie F. the wife of James H. Stevens died in 1889 and Allen F., in 1904. There remains Mrs. W.C. Robinson and Mrs. John Hartwell of North Anson and Uhler A. Gray of Malden, Mass. Mrs Gray died 16th Jan. 1913.
When a young man Mr. Gray went to Philadelphia and remained two years. When he returned in 1858 he went to work for Henry F. Getchel, a business man of North Anson. After two or three years Mr. Gray and his father bought Mr. Getchel's business and started the large business carried on for many years under the name, of T. Gray and son, held the position of postmaster from 186- to 1885.
His was a character of rare loveliness. Few men of his age hold their interest in the welfare of the entire world as he did, and few men leave such a multitude of mourning friends. He was a staunch Congregationalist in belief. He did not talk religion; he lived it. No one ever saw him give way to anger, or heard him speak an unkind word. He was one of God's gentlemen. His old fashion courtesy and kind words will long be remembered. This world is better for his life.

Stickney married Ellen Louise Caswell, daughter of John Caswell and Caroline Fuller, on 2 Jun 1862. (Ellen Louise Caswell was born on 2 Dec 1844 in Embden, Somerset County, Maine USA and died on 16 Jan 1913 in North Anson, Somerset County, Maine USA.)
