JOANNA GRAY (Daniel, George, John, George, James) born in Monroe County Ohio 3rd May 1824; died in Noble County, Ohio 10th Jan. 1870; married 9th Dec. 1838 William Kirkbride; her age at the time she was married was 14 years, 7 months and 6 days, he records being correct. She was a member of the Christian church. William Kirkbride was born 28th Jan. 1809, died in South Olive, Ohio 15th July 1902; He was associated with Franklin Gale in early Christian work an organisation in Ohio; together they organised the Christian church in Woodfield. William Kirkbride organised the town of South Olive, in Noble County, Ohio in 1871, having settled there in 1865. He owned and operated a store and hotel in Graysville before removing to Noble County, and held some kind of public office nearly all of the time.

She was born 1st Dec. 1852 at Clarksville, Montgomery Co., Tenn. and is living (1916) at marble City, Okla. With her mother and daughter Minnie. She was daughter of William Gladden and Nancy (Billingsley) Black. Her father was born in Clarksville, Tenn. 10th Oct. 1830; m. Nancy, dau. of Reuben and Adelia Jane Billingsley in Clarksville, Tenn. 11th March 1850. Her mother was born in Clarksville, 5th June 1837 (sic); living, (1916) in marble City, Okla. Dudley Kirkbride served as a private in the Union Army during the Civil War, two years and eleven months, in Co. K. 92nd regt., Ohio Volunteer Infantry.

(iii)Charles Black Kirkbride, b. 17th Feb. 1874 in South Olive, Ohio; m. in Rawlins County, Kans., Lillian May Britton. They have separated and he disappeared. She m. 2nd a man named Hill, and is living (1916)in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Serving in the Philippine Islands; died while returning home on sick leave. Was buried in Presidia National Park Cemetery in San Francisco, Calf.

His father was from Virginia and his mother was born in Germany. He was born 30th Aug. 1854 on a farm near Lebanon, Monroe Co., Ohio. They removed to Coffee Co. Kans in 1883where Oscar M. Rice was elected to the state legislature in 1889 on a populist ticket. In 1811 they removed to Sedan, Mont. where they were still living on a ranch in 1912.
