Walter Heinz Hans Konter
General Notes: Walter was a POW in Lincolnshire he was captured by the Canadians who took all his papers from him. He spent many years after the war trying to reclaim his birth certificate, he eventually managed this. Before the war he studied accountancy. Duiring the war he served as an infantryman (he walked back to Germany after their defeat in Russia) then as a gunner on a plane from which he was shot down. During the war and just after the familys holdings were lost and his brother left to live in Canada, his father had died in Mittenwalde in 1945 (he was a civil engineer working on the Aotobahns) and his stepmother was caught in East Germany where she had been living during the war. He decided not to go back, Noted events in his life were: • connection. Walter married Phyllis May Price, daughter of Isaac William Price and Evelyn Mary Jex, 12th January 1949 in Bourne Registry Office, Bourne, Lincolnshire England. (Phyllis May Price was born 31st Dec 1919 in Kinoulton, Nottinghamshire England, died 2nd April 1998 in Glenfield Hospital, Groby Rd, Glenfield, Leicestershire England and was buried in 1998 in Loughborough Crematorium, Loughborough, Leicestershire England.) |
