had "fallen in love" with C.P. de la Motte, the 3rd officer aboard the Aurora, the main ship of the Mawson five expeditions to the Antarctic in the period 1911-1914. However, her mother discouraged the association. Later in life, Nita married a widower Harry Miles in 1949. Dying in 1969, Nita is buried with her mother at Northern Suburbs cemetery, North Ryde
