Carolyn Kingsmill notes that he had the first land grant at Wolgan Valley, NSW & named their farm "Moss Side" at Piper's Flat (Wallerang) after Catherine's parents farm in Perthshire Scotland.

• source. "Bakers, Bishops and Bushrangers" by Robert J Williams

• prepe. On 2 july 1874 he took up the conditional purchase of 40 acres of Crown land at Wolgan, later farmed some land at Blackmans Flat and later still bought a farm at Pipers Flat that he called Moss Slide.

• connection. Carolyn Kingsmill 's connection to me as my 3^rd cousin is as follows:

Francis married Catherine Bell Gorrie, daughter of David Gorrie and Catherine Bell, on 26 Mar 1879 in Hartley, NSW Australia. (Catherine Bell Gorrie was born on 22 Jan 1858 in Blackman's Flat, Mudgee Rd, Hartley, NSW Australia, died on 18 Feb 1916 in Blackman's Flat, Mudgee Rd, Hartley, NSW Australia and was buried in Pipers Flat, Wallerawang, NSW Australia.)
