23 December 1780 Thomas's father THOMAS was bound to Hurst parish officers because son Thomas had made Jane Norris pregnant.
Jane duly gave birth to illegitimate son Richard Norris who was christened at Hurst 21 January 1781.
Jane was herself christened in Hurst 12 November 1758 daughter of Paul Norris (christened Bolney 6 March 1725 and Mary (nee Parker). This couple married at All Saints, Lewes 4 February 1753.
Jane finally married John Groves (christened Stanmer 14 November 1756)on 25 October 1785 in Hurst.
Gentleman of Malling Deanery, Lewes - bachelor aged 21 at wedding.
According to his mother's will living at Lewes in 1803.
