Charles Arthur Marchant

  General Notes:

Charles was a trained civil engineer, and became Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department, Cuttack. He was said to have designed the MARCHANT Dredger which kept the River Hoogli clear for shipping.
He lived in a large home, Jobra, Cuttack. Later he built "Winifred Lodge" in Cuttack for his retirement.

Charles married Mary Jane Connell on 15 Aug 1887 in Calcutta, West Bengal India (now called Kolkata). (Mary Jane Connell was born on 16 May 1871 in Nowgong, India and died in Aug 1937 in Cuttack, India.)
