Albert John Taylor enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 15/9/1915. His next of kin was His sister Mrs. F.J. Hassett, Creek Street, Omeo, Victoria.
The Certificate of Medical Examination describes him as: - Age - 28 years 9 months, height - 5 feet 8 and a half inches, weight - 152 pounds, chest measurement - 33/37 inches, complexion - fair, eyes - blue, hair - brown and religious denomination - Church of England. His distinctive marks were: - Vac 4 lest arm, 2 moles chest.
From the 15/9/1915 to the 11/10/1915 Albert was stationed at Seymour. He was struck of as deserter on the 13/1/1916. The records don’t show if he enlisted again but we find him embarking from Melbourne on the 25th of May 1916.
Albert served in France and was admitted to the 5th Southern General Hospital, Portsmouth, England on the 6/11/1918 suffering from Influenza
Albert returned to Australia per “Karmala” and was discharged on the 5/3/1919. He received the Star, British War and Victory Medal.
