Charles James Dixon enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 13/8/1915. His certificate of medical examination describes Charles as 21 years 10 months, height - 5 feet 3 and a half inches, weight - 8 stone 2 lbs, chest measurement 31/33 inches, complexion - fresh, eyes - blue, hair - dark and religious denomination - Presbyterian. His distinctive marks were - Moles - 2 Back and one on right upper arm, birth mark on right upper leg, scar left upper leg. On the 28/9/1916 he was reported for being improperly dressed on parade and appearing on parade with a dirty rifle. On the 25/2/1917 he was in a Hospital with scabies, he rejoined his unit on 22/3/1917. He was Admitted to the Military Hospital Shorncliffe whilst on leave from France V.D. 31/8/1917. Discharged 5/10/1917 He was readmitted twice more for treatment for V.D.
