William Douglas Dixon enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 4/4/1917. William enlisted at Wagga Wagga and his next of kin was his mother - Mrs M Dixon, Mangalore West, Vic.
On the Cetificate of Medical Examination William is described as - 22 years and 4 months, height - 5 feet 9 and a quarter inches, weight - 134 and a half pounds, chest measurement - 32/35 inches, complexion - fair, eyes - blue, hair - brown and religous denomination - Presbyterian. His distinctive marks - benign growth behind angle left jaw, scar right arm and scar right buttock.
William was discharged medically unfit not due to misconduct on the 5/4/1917 with defective eyesight. His left eye was defective. A horse had kicked him on the left side of his head three years previously and his left eyesight had been bad since then.
