Robert Elliott BUNTINE was born on 20 Dec 1866 in Rosedale Vic. He died on the 9th December 1935 in Freemantle WA. He grew up in Toongabbie, and went to W.A. in about 1896 where he joined G.M. Munn as a Surveyor. The town of Buntine is named after him.

Robert married Triffina Ann Witchel, daughter of Henry Witchel and Elizabeth Mary Hinds, in 1908 in Western Australia. (Triffina Ann Witchel was born on 3 Apr 1856 in St Kilda, Melbourne, Victoria Australia, died on 17 Feb 1928 in Fremantle, Western Australia and was buried on 20 Feb 1925 in Fremantle, Western Australia.)
