General Notes: Mary was born in 1798 in Fenwick Ayrshire. She went on to marry Huge Buntine(1804-1867) and had 6 children, Jane Symington Buntine(1826-....),John Buntine(1827-....), Robert Buntine(1830-....), Mary-Ann Buntine(1833), and Huge Symington Buntine(1834-....) are Mary's first 5 children, on the 26th September 1838 Mary emigrated with her children to Australia, on her journey on the "William Roger" ship she gave birth to her 6th child Alexander Buntine(1838-1838) who sadly died onboard at about a month old from malnutrition. In October 1838 Mary died of Typhus which broke out on the "William Roger" ship in the latter part of their journey and died shortly after arriving in Sydney. She was buried with her month old son at North Head (spring cove) Quarantine Station. Mary married Hugh Buntine. (Hugh Buntine was born in 1804, died on 7 Jun 1867 in Rosedale, Victoria Australia and was buried in Rosedale Cemetery, Victoria Australia.) |
