  Research Notes:

R & C note:
To the best of my knowledge Peter Hanslow was born 14th February 1798 in Birmingham to John Hanslow and Rebecca (Davis). He was baptised at St Martins 9th April 1798. (There is always the problem in old records of birth or baptism dates, but I think this is right). Peter died 28th February 1866 in Redfern, registered in Chippendale '96 however I believe his home at that time was 102 Botany Street, Chippendale (which was a top new suburb). Maybe the boundaries changed, or his son Peter, the informant, was confused, as he had been living in Melbourne for some time, and came home because his father was sick. Peter Hanslow (senior) is my 3X great-grandfather, and was a very enterprising and (I believe) decent man. Having arrived as a convict was incidental to his life and character. If you are a Sydney person, his hotel, the "Dog and Duck" was roughly where the Great Southern Hotel is near Central Station. (Central wasn't built till 1906 '96 long after Peter's time).

Noted events in his life were:

• source.

• Occupation.

• Medical.

• connection.

Peter married Mary Ann Porter, daughter of Richard Porter and Mary Hutchinson, on 7 Mar 1825 in St Philips C of E, York St, Sydney, NSW Australia. (Mary Ann Porter was born on 3 Nov 1809 in Kissing Point, Sydney, NSW Australia, christened on 31 May 1810 in St Johns C of E, Parramatta, Sydney, NSW Australia, died on 25 Oct 1839 in Brickfield Hill, Sydney, NSW Australia and was buried on 27 Oct 1839 in St Lawrence Church of England, George St, Sydney, NSW Australia.)

Peter next married Louisa B. Berringer on 13 Apr 1840 in St Lawrence Church of England, George St, Sydney, NSW Australia. (Louisa B. Berringer was born on 3 Jul 1817 in Parramatta, Sydney, NSW Australia, died on 3 Apr 1869 in Redfern, Sydney, NSW Australia and was buried in St Peters C of E, St Peters, Sydney, NSW Australia 634.)
