Hillman Bayliss Funeral
"The funeral of Hillman Bayliss, who died at his home in Mt. Veron District, about two miles from Alexandria, Saturday morning last, took place Tuesday morning from St. Mary's Catholic Church, Alexandria, and he was laid at rest in Ivy Hill Cemetery. Mr. Bayliss was a well known farmer, and was a native of Fairfax County. He was the son of Mary and George Bayliss, long residents of the county, and is survived by his wife, Mrs. Catherine Bayliss, and seven children, Mrs. William Roat and Mrs William Henning, Alexandria; Mrs. Willliam P. Huffman, of Los Angeles, Calif.; Miss Jennie E. Bayliss, of Fairfax county; and David F., George H., and John F. Bayliss, of Alexandria. Mrs. Alice Denty, of Newington, is his sister."

"Mr. Harry C. B. Maulen, a nephew of Mr. Hillman Bayliss, of Mt. Veron district, a former student of the Episcopal Theological Seminary, this county, died recently at Berkley Divinity College."

Fairfax Herald Newspaper, dated 13 Jul 1928, page 6:
"A barn on the farm of Hillman Bayliss Barn was destroyed by fire, along with its contents, late Saturday night. The cause of the fire is unknown."
