My Mair grandad, George Mair, with a couple of buddies bought a disused church and turned it into what would be called an "entertainment centre" now, not approved by the Presbyterians, I daresay. They had dances and concerts and three penny films for the children on Saturday mornings. Roy Rogers was a favourite until he married that Dale Evans.

I adored "Portsoy Grandad". He died just before my 7th birthday but I remember him so well. He was everything to me . My mother was hit by the London bus when I was a baby and grandad came hasting down to London and took me "home". He took me walking, and driving, and sailing, and told me stories and sang me to sleep every night- before going off dancing !

George married Mary Sutherland, daughter of William Sutherland Snr and Jean Goodbrand, on 30 Nov 1894 in Church St, Portsoy, Banffshire Scotland. (Mary Sutherland was born on 23 Oct 1872 in Fordyce, Banffshire Scotland and died on 11 Jun 1952 in Portsoy, Banff, Aberdeenshire, Scotland ⁶⁴³.)
