He went to Australia from the Isle of Skye as a baby when his family was expelled in the Clearances.
Pete was born in Edinburgh, Don in Shanghai, Dawn in Singapore. They also lived (to my knowledge) in Ipoh, Penang, Johore Bahru, possibly Kota Tinggi, were in Western Australia for a time, Ceylon. Then, the parents, finally, in Sarawak. Then to Sydney, supposedly to retire, but they had no money and both worked at something.
