My late husband's family came from the Isle of Skye and were evicted when his grandfather was a baby - they went to Australia and settled in NSW, my father in law was born in Sunny Corner.
My late husband was born in Shanghai and captured in Singapore while his parents escaped to Ceylon. Rather miraculous that his birth certificate survived because he knew nothing about his family, except that his mother always called herself "Patricia", who knows why.

• note. Jean Cameron notes:
He was born in Shanghai because after his brother, Peter, was born in Edinburgh in 1919, Allen Cameron got a job with the Shanghai police force. That didn't last long, because Aileen Dawn was born in S'pore a couple of years later.
Gol used to claim that he'd have been in the 1936 Berlin Olympics, on the diving team, but his parents couldn't afford to pay. He'd have been 14. Yet they could have paid for a Swiss school (for his sister according to her.)

Donald married Muriel Barbara Haynes, daughter of Frederick William Haynes and Mabel Annie Watts, in 1946 in Staines, London, Middlesex England. (Muriel Barbara Haynes was born in Oct 1923 in Islington, Greater London, Middlesex England.)

Donald next married Jean Sutherland McBain, daughter of George McBain and Helen Mair, in 1959 in Baltimore, Maryland USA. (Jean Sutherland McBain was born in 1932 in Portsoy, Banffshire Scotland.)
