Records show that Mary Ann's first husband John, who with his companion, James Ferguson, and his team of thirteen horses were all killed by lightning in the Wentworth Falls area in 1859. Records also show that John's parents pioneered the fruit industry in the Dural area, and ran the coach services to Parramatta in the early days.
