Francis Arthur Pollard

   Cause of his death was within two years of suffering a stroke.

   Other names for Francis were Frank and Frank.

  General Notes:

Frank was a "Gentleman Drover" in the Hay region.
Info from nephew, Thomas POLLARD 2004; I remember Frank as a neat tidy dresser so the reference to him being a Gentleman Drover in the Hay district fits well. He wore riding breeches and leggings a lot and the leggings were always shined . What I do remember clearly about him was that when he and dad (Alexander Russell) were together it wasn't long before they would become involved in an argument ,and generally a heated one at that. Bit like Jack and myself . We wouldn't have to be together long before we would be arguing in loud voice. Might be a family trait although it doesn't seem to have been handed down from me. Uncle Frank and family went to Narrandera to live when I was about 11 or 12 I think. Something trivial I remember - Being a drover he naturally had sheep dogs and when the chooks would get out he would use the dogs to round them up and get them back into the fowl yard. At the time they lived in Pine Street and the back yard opened into the lane at the back of our shed but to the left. Uncle Frank would be away a lot droving. Sorry I can't offer any more.

Francis married Florence Olive Kirkby, daughter of Alfred Joseph John Kirkby and Hannah Eliza Seymour, on 20 Nov 1917 in Wagga Wagga, NSW Australia. (Florence Olive Kirkby was born on 12 Jul 1894 in Urana, NSW Australia, died on 1 Oct 1995 in Lakemba, Sydney, NSW Australia and was buried in R.C. Northern Suburbs Cemetery, Sydney, NSW Australia.)
