James left each of his children a house each in his will so he had obviously collected a substantial amount of money during his lifetime.

• Occupation: Ironfounder, Ironmonger & Sanitary Collector. He had his own horse drawn cart to collect the cans which he stored in the big shed at the back of 23 Forest Rd Orange

• Property. In 1906 James & Elizabeth lived in Forest Rd Orange & by 1915 were at 23 McLachlan St East Orange. Electoral rolls also show James living at Langtry Rd Auburn. He also built houses at 25 & 27 Forest Rd Orange which he originally rented out then sold.

• fact. For many years James was a member and Deacon of Orange Baptist Church and was made a life deacon on 16/10/1947, aged 87

• second marriage. James married again after Elizabeth died in 1916 - Mary Robertson (originally Mary Nicholl who was born in Fifeshire, Scotland) who was twice widowed. Her first husband was George Spowart. James and Mary were married at Rozelle 29/3/1922. Mary's parents were David and Margaret.
Mary died at Orange 16/3/1958 (aged 95) and is buried in th Plymouth Brethren section of Orange Cemetery. Mary had a son James Spowart by her first marriage in Dumferline, Scotland. James was a grocer and lived at 4 Kite Stree East Orange in 1928. James died 11/10/1937 and is buried in the Plymouth Brethren section of Orange Cemetery & is buried in the same grave as his mother Marywhich is tended by Mary Sheppard regularly.
