Joseph Greenwood

  General Notes:

The 1871c entry for this family lists a James Smith aged 20 and thus bo rn c1851. He is the child of Sarah, from a previous marriage. I am unsu re whether or when Joseph and Sarah married. There is certainly no reco rd on the IGI.
(The 1861c entry has him as a 10 year old)

Charles, the next eldest member of the family (and Florence Middletons Gra ndfather) was variously recorded as Greenwood and Greenwood-Smith. He w as buried as Greenwood-Smith, and that is how Florence knew him, but in t he 1881 census, he was a Greenwood.

George Greenwood/Greenwood Smith are almost certainly the same person.

Joseph married Sarah Middleton in 1860 in St Mary the Virgin, Hunslet, near Leeds, West Yorkshire England. (Sarah Middleton was born about 1828 in Wentbridge, Yorkshire England and died in Jul 1901 in Saxton In Elmet, West Yorkshire England.)
