Linden, Main Street
Ethel owned Linden and Kollies, next to Wellington Heifer, Ainderby Steep le in 1951. She bought the houses from Mrs Bailey of Morton on Swale. Betw een 1951 and 1959 Linden was rented privately, and Kollies was rented to t he RAF for housing personnel stationed at RAF Leeming. The rent for one ho use was 5s per week; the other 3s/6d. Before the war, Kollies was a fish a nd chip shop. It closed during the war and became a private house. Lind en may possibly have once been a Post Office. She lived with daughter Dor is and his husband John and their daughters in Linden and Kollies, Main St reet, Ainderby Steeple, Yorkshire North Riding in 1959. The brewery Camero n's owned the Wellington Heifer pub which Ethel and family were running. T hey decided to sell the pub and gave Ethel first refusal, but she declin ed because she wanted to retire soon. The pub was sold to Billy and Mol ly Booth, and Ethel and family moved next door and occupied the houses Lin den and Kollies, both of which Ethel owned. She lived in Old Royal Geor ge pub, Morton on Swale, Yorkshire North Riding from 1960 to 1972. Her s on Arnold moved out of The Old Royal George, leaving nobody to run the p ub which she owned. So she and John, Doris & family moved in to run the p ub until 1972. She lived in Linden and Kollies, Main Street, Ainderby Stee ple, Yorkshire North Riding in May 1972. Her son Arnold died and The O ld Royal George in Morton on Swale was sold . She lived in Kollies, Main S treet, Ainderby Steeple, Yorkshire North Riding from 1972 to 1986. Kolli es was sold after Ethel died. She lived in Kollies, Main Street, Ainder by Steeple, Yorkshire North Riding on 26 May 1977. Cause of Death: Broncho pneumonia


Ethel married Arnold Poulter, son of Frederick Poulter and Elizabeth Gilliam. (Arnold Poulter was born on 29 Mar 1886 in Howarth Hall, Brindsworth, Rotherham, Yorkshire England, died on 20 Jun 1950 and was buried in Jun 1950 in St Helens, Ainderby Steeple, Northallerton, North Yorkshire England.)
