Frederick George Larkinson

  General Notes:

Attended Cheshunt United Reformed Church (previously a Congregational Church) Lived at Hollywood Gardens at Cheshunt Buried 14/10/1950 Cheshunt, Hertford England

When I visited Cheshunt in 2017 I discovered that the original Cheshunt Free Church had been destroyed and was now a housing estate. I had been told that it was replaced by a new Church in a different location. When I enquired as to what had happended to the gravestones at the original church or the bodies that were buried there I discovered that they were either left there or maybe were moved to the cemetery which was quite some kilometers away. No-one seemed to know how I could find out what had happened to my great grandparents' graves.

• fact. There is also a marriage listed for Fredrick Larkinson on 24/4/1881 at Biggleswade, Bedford, England to Elizabeth Cooper. Did he marry twice?

Having done a little more research, I think I can now safely disprove the marriage between our Frederick Larkinson and Elizabeth Cooper.

On the 1891 Census for Surfleet, Lincolnshire (RG12-2561-76-6), and the 1901 Census for Ordsall, Nottingham (RG13-3122-95-6), appears Frederick Larkinson, b.1858 Biggleswade, and his wife Elizabeth,
b.1858 Biggleswade. In the IGI Records are a couple of entries for Elizabeth Cooper, which would tie in with these Census records. The other deciding factor for me, is that the BMD entry for the 1881 marriage, does not give Frederick's middle name, whereas the 1888 marriage does.

I am now going to remove the Elizabeth Cooper entry from my tree, but will leave a reference to it, against Frederick's name, just as a reminder for the future. At the same time, I will update my tree with Census details for Frederick & Laura.

Frederick next married Laura Kershaw Waldock, daughter of James Moss and Sarah Ann Waldock, on 31 Mar 1888 in Congregational Quay Meeting House, Woodbridge, Suffolk England. (Laura Kershaw Waldock was born on 19 Apr 1864 in Cockayne Hatley, Bedfordshire England, christened on 17 May 1864 in Cockayne Hatley, Bedfordshire England, died on 2 Feb 1951 in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire England and was buried on 8 Feb 1951 in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire England.)

The link looks at the records in chronological order from the Groom's name. I know in the Church archives we don't have much from 1888 apart from what is on the web. So it might have been they met whilst he was staying in Woodbridge, then moved to Cheshunt not long after and lived there for virtually their whole married life.
