Noted events in his life were: • source. Frank Firkin's notes & Elizabeth Wade • Residence. thought to have lived at Swan Lane West Bromwich before emigrating to Australia • emigrated. He emigrated to Australia with his wife Emma & a child Sarah Ashton aged 7 listed as "orphan" also of Staffordshire. on 15th December 1860 on the Lady McDonald after a voyage of 116 days. Sarah is noted in later documents as George's stepdaughter. and Emma refers to her daughter as being Sarah Mitchell, wife of John Mitchell, Science Master of Waratah. It is deducted that Sarah is a daughter of Emmas before her marriage to George but it is not know why she is declared to be an "orphan" on shipping records.. The shipping records indicate that someone in Australi paid ten pounds per person for them to Emigrate to Australia. • Occupation. storekeeper • Medical. He died from carcinoma of the Lungs George married Emma Tyler (or Ashton?) in 1858 in Holy Trinity, Smethwick, West Bromwich, Staffordshire England. (Emma Tyler (or Ashton?) was born circa 1832 in England UK, died on 27 Dec 1912 in Drummoyne, Sydney, NSW Australia and was buried in Sandgate Cemetery, Newcastle, NSW Australia - C of E section plot 26/102.)
