Apparently Charles was a very strict father and he used to beat his first wife, it is said that she would wear hats with veils to cover the bruises on her face.
He later married Theresa Sposton who was a friend of one of Charles's daughters she was 25 and Charles was 55 when they married this would have been shocking in that day and age.

Charles married Annie Dorricott, daughter of William Dorricott and Emma Mole, on 1 Jun 1895 in Worcester Register Office, Worcestershire England.³⁶² (Annie Dorricott was born on 25 Oct 1877 in Worcester, Worcestershire England,³⁶² died on 13 Aug 1923 in 27 Drayton St, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire England ³⁶² and was buried in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire England.). The cause of her death was Chronic Brights disease, cyesis, cerebral heamorrage.

Charles next married Teresa Spronson after 1923. (Teresa Spronson was born about 1904 in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire England.)
