  Research Notes:

Marilyn Wilson notes:
John Hemson's 1st wife, Anne STYNES died (it was told to me - in childbirth - and everything that I have points to that occurrence) and I suspect that she was Irish. John's 2nd wife, Emma HENRY was later a nurse and midwife at the Warialda Hospital and went to live with John to look after the two children Maria and James when Anne died. This would have been about 1847 as James was born in that year. Emma would have been about 14. They subsequently married in 1850 and had 11 children. Emma was an assistant to the first teacher at the Warialda School and both Maria and James (John and Anne's children) attended the school.
From Barbara Robinson (nee Hamson) I have not been able to find a death recorded for Anne STYNES. James was born or registered at Tamworth, but I haven't been able to find a death for her there either. We went to the old cemetery at Warialda but there were very few headstones left (that is if she even had one). I have some published items about John, who was an 'orderly' for the Police Commissioner Richard Bligh there, and on certificates he is described as being a police constable. In those days, Maitland was the closest settlement to Warialda.
