Frederick "Fred" John Carter was born at "Glenisla" station, Victoria, in 1870. He was the second son of Samuel and Jane Carter. Fred Carter was one of H.V McKay's first employees in Ballarat. He joined the company around 1898. He resigned in February 1910 and moved to "Korawilla", via Cuballing, Western Australia to take up farming. He married the late Florence Mayne of Stawell (died 1946), and they had 3 daughters; Freda, (Mrs. Harry Biggin) of "Karingal", Kondinin, W.A; Marion and Joyce Carter. Fred Carter died at Kondinin on June 2, 1959, aged 89 years, and was survived by his daughters and son-in-law.

Frederick married Florence Mayne. (Florence Mayne was born in 1873 in Stawell, Victoria Australia and died on 14 Sep 1946 in Korawilla, Wickepin, Western Australia.)
