• Will. Will of William BIRD of Poulton-cum-Seacombe (Died 12 May 1833) This is the Last Will and Testament of me William BIRD of Poulton-cum-Seacombe in the Parish of Wallasey in the county of Chester Yeoman which I make and publish this eighth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty three and I hereby revoke all other will and wills heretofore made by me I direct my live stock to be sold immediately after my decease and after paying out of the proceeds arising therefrom my Debts and Funeral and Testamentary expences I direct the balance to be paid equally between my sons Nehemiah William and Joshua - I give devise and bequeath unto my said son Nehemiah and his Heirs my Cottage and Gardens with the appurtenances situate close to Wallasey Pool in the said Parish of Wallasey And also one equal undivided moiety of my Field called the Smithy Hey situate on the East side of the Road leading from the village of Poulton-cum-Seacombe to Wallasey Pool aforesaid And also all my Estate and Interest whatsoever if any such is now vested in me at and in certain closes of Land situate in the Township of Wallasey and which some years ago I conveyed or intended to convey to him subject nevertheless to the payment by the said Nehemiah of any Mortgage or other incumbrance now affecting the same and on condition of his exonerating my estate from payment thereof and releasing my Executor from any Debt which he may claim from me I give devise and bequeath unto my said son William BI RD for and during the term of his natural life All that my messuage or Tenement and Garden in the village of Poulton-cum-Seacombe aforesaid and now in the possession or occupation of my said son Joshua BIRD And from and after the decease of my said son William I give devise and bequeath the same unto and equally amongst all and every his children and their respective Heirs and Assigns share and share alike as Tenants in Common and not as joint Tenants - I give devise and bequeath unto my said son Joshua and his Heirs the other equal undivided moiety of my said Field called Smithy Hey - my Barn and Garden in the village of Poulton-cum-Seacombe adjoining the premises I now live in Also my cottage in Wallasey situate in the Gutter adjoining Bartley HASWELL's, and a piece of Common Land called the Saltey Field Butts all of which are now in my own occupation And as to all the rest residue and remainder of my Real and personal estate of what nature or kind soever or wheresoever the same may be I give devise and bequeath the same unto my said son Joshua his Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns absolutely and forever. And I hereby declare that the provision hereby made for my said sons respectively is to be by them received in full discharge of any Debt which they or any of them can or may claim from me and that I mean hereby to release each of them from any Debt which he may owe to me. And I appoint my said son Joshua BIRD sole Executor of this my Will. CRUMP On the 20 Day of May 1833 Joshua BIRD the Executor named in this Will was sworn in common form and further made oath that the personal Estate and effects of the Testator within the Diocese of Chester, were under the value of sixty pounds before me J. GATE Surrogate The Testator died the 12 of May 1833 Pro. issd. dated 20th May 1833 Monumental inscription at St. Hilary's Church, Wallasey states:- "...Also in memory of the above William BIRD who departed this life May 12th 1833 aged 85 years"


William married Esther Sherlock, daughter of Thomas Sherlock and Unknown. (Esther Sherlock was born on 8 Jul 1751 in Wallasey, Merseyside England and died on 15 Jan 1832.)
