Research Notes:
Jim Truscott notes: Meg Watson (nee Truscott) was born on 15 June 1919 in Muswellbrook. She married Robert Angus Ruthven Watson (known as Angus) at Ashfield on 7 September 1944. The certificate states 7 September and the declaration states 6 September. She died in Wahroonga Sydney on 10 March 1985. Angus died in Wahroonga on 29 June 1991. NX104697 Captain Watson served in 1 Australian Field Regiment from 4 December 1941 to 18 December 1945. The Meg Watson Story by Prue Watson As a girl, Meg attended Abbotsleigh School for Girls as a boarder in Wahroonga, Sydney. She very much enjoyed sport and was a good hockey and tennis player. In her final year, she was awarded a prize for her all round talents. Meg attended Sydney University and qualified as an "analytical chemist" as per her marriage certificate. I think her completion of this was interrupted for a time after her mother died when she needed to return to Muswellbrook. I recall her telling me she worked in a munitions factory in Sydney during the war. She lived in Ashfield with her cousin, Dorothy Short (Stevens family line) when working in Sydney. She had always wanted to be a doctor however this was not socially permitted in her day. Once married, it was expected that she would step out of the workforce.
