Orton Ernest Truscott ³⁵²

  General Notes:

recorded as an infant on the 'Stirlingshire' on arriving Moreton Bay 4th Feb.,1878, having departed London, 8th November 1877.
no baptism found in Cornish records nor birth entry in NSW or Queensland
family record held by Lee family says Orton died 15th April 1878, when about 10 months old. A birth in about Jun 1877 and in Cornwall, not on the voyage.
however NSW death registry transcription says he was 10 months old at death, but died in April 1881 so implying a birth year of 1880, and said he was born in Vegetable Creek - these seem wrong.
NSW registration records were possibly only collected infrequently from Emmaville so there would be some suspicion of errors in the official records for the time.
Believable death registered in Qld 1878/C788 for Orton Ernest Truscott, father John Charles Truscott, mother Elizabeth Coad.
He is buried in Toowoomba cemetery as Orten Truscott, 6 and a half months old, death/burial date 15 April 1878. Parents' address was 'Immigration Centre, Toowoomba
Seems likely that he was a post-death registration in NSW by his parents who moved from Toowoomba soon after his death to register in Qld?

He was born in 1877 in Cornwall and he left London as an infant with his parents on 8 November 1877 on the Stirlingshire. They arrived at Moreton Bay on 4 February 1878 and Orton died from teething and diarrhea when he was 6½ month's old on 15 April 1878 at the Immigration Deport in Toowoomba Immigration only two months after arriving in Australia. Refer to the immigration record or passenger list for the Stirlingshire' in 1878 where he is recorded as an infant.
