General Notes: Percival Augustus Chapman, was born in Tamworth on 31st August 1884. His father was Richard Chapman (a storekeeper) and his mother was Mary Carruthers (a sister of Rev. James Carruthers - a Methodist minister and missionary - and Sir Joseph Carruthers - who became Premier of NSW in 1923). The Carruthers family had migrated to Australia from Glasgow in Scotland. Noted events in his life were: • Birth registration, 1882, Tamworth, NSW Australia. Percival married Ola May Truscott, daughter of John Charles Truscott and Elizabeth Coad, on 5 Jan 1918 in Waverley, Sydney, NSW Australia. (Ola May Truscott was born on 1 May 1891 in Emmaville, NSW Australia, died on 8 Apr 1936 in Emmaville, NSW Australia and was buried in Emmaville Cemetery, Emmaville, NSW Australia.) Marriage Notes: married in chapel at Burwood Methodist Ladies College where Ola had been a student. |
