  General Notes:

Percival Augustus Chapman, was born in Tamworth on 31st August 1884. His father was Richard Chapman (a storekeeper) and his mother was Mary Carruthers (a sister of Rev. James Carruthers - a Methodist minister and missionary - and Sir Joseph Carruthers - who became Premier of NSW in 1923). The Carruthers family had migrated to Australia from Glasgow in Scotland.

Mary died when Percy was born (or very soon after). Percy was reared by his oldest sister Florence. When he was 13 years old, his father remarried - his step-mother caused a lot of trouble with his father and after many a hiding for something he didn't do, as a result when he was 14, Percy ran away from home.

Percival married Ola May Truscott, daughter of John Charles Truscott and Elizabeth Coad, on 5 Jan 1918 in Waverley, Sydney, NSW Australia. (Ola May Truscott was born on 1 May 1891 in Emmaville, NSW Australia, died on 8 Apr 1936 in Emmaville, NSW Australia and was buried in Emmaville Cemetery, Emmaville, NSW Australia.)

married in chapel at Burwood Methodist Ladies College where Ola had been a student.
