  Research Notes:

Suzanne O'Hara nee Jackson who notes:
John Davy and his Brothers were raised by my gtgtgt grandmother Elizabeth Jackson she married John Totnes in 1852 not long after arriving from England
She had come with her children, some who were married and had children of their own.
Her elder son Levi Jackson was my Gt Gt Grandfather he and John Totnes Blackmore bought licenses to chop wood in the Papanui Bush where they all settled.
Sadly Levi's brother George who had set up a brickworks and was doing extremely well died along with 4 of his children from Diphtheria so the families moved to Ohoka on small farms. It was a tough life and John loved his ale so Levi supported his step brothers and mother as well as his 7 children.
One of Levi's brothers Ambrose ha gone to Waimate so John Davy eventually followed.
He was station Master there for many years.
