My great grandfather, John Ditcham was born in Smallburgh in 1808/9. He married Sarah Ann (unknown) born 1811 died 1853 in Sydney Australia. They had one known child, Elizabeth Mary born early 1830s who married George Folliett in 1852. John then married Sarah Doyle in 1853. They had 13 children. I am interested in all Ditcham families in Norfolk & Suffolk & their connecting lines. Any information would be very welcome. Regards, Narelle Simons (nee Ditcham). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://genforum.genealogy.com/mace/messages/1086.html This Post was on Genforum so is it possible that my John Ditcham's first wife, who was Sarah Unknown could possibly be Sarah Mace? We only made contact once when she answered a message I placed in the paper & we exchanged info. on our lines & that was that. Barbara Angell whose line also came from S.A. also contacted me at the same time. I know there were a lot of Angell's living in S.A. but I always believed them to be descended from either Barbara's line or that of John or Joseph. I also believe these two lines will prove to be connected further back. I'm sorry if I mislead you Sue but Merle's info. doesn't state that John & Mary were actually married in S.A. or that John & Joseph were born there either. Going by the info. in the newspaper clipping John & Joseph both came to Aust. sometime in the 1840's indicating they were born in England. I wonder if they were the children of a previous marriage of either John or Mary as we know Mary was a widow prior to her marriage to John. Maybe Beryl may turn up something regarding this in her records. My great grandfather came out to Aust. in 1839 as part of the 96th Manchester regiment who were bringing prisoners out to Norfolk Island. My email address is ralgy@aol.com if you would like to contact me Sue. Regards, Narelle. -
